WHITNEY: You look so pretty!DVF: No I don't. That is real dialogue right there.
Olivia and Whitney are tasked with redecorating the whole store before the party. Fancy-lookin'! Debra Messing! Olivia is working the door so she can let Infamous Nevan in. Whitney's friend Samantha shows up as well so they can girltalk about Jay, but Whitney gets pulled away to pull a dress for Becki Newton (of "Ugly Betty" fame), who "spilled on hers." Or tried to iron it, maybe.
The next day, Jay calls for Whitney at work but gets Olivia instead, who as Office Underminer only orders sushi from Nobu or Megu at work, never goes out to fancy lunches. Our star is out with coworker Chris who promises to take her out in Manhattan. Saucy! Oh honey, he works in fashion. She even gives him an uber-corny "I'll see you, down the hallway"--but there's no chemistry.
With Olivia's help, she decides not to tell Jay about it right away--only to tell him on their very next date that she had lunch with a "friend" from the office. We say, that's fair game, there weren't really any undertones. Jay correctly calls her on her weird mindgames and says "You can do whatever you want. It's your life." But no! Whit cries in her heart of hearts. It's YOURS! We don't like New Whitney. Could she not get her backbone re-installed on the East Coast?
Jay rants to his friend Adam (the male Whitney to his LC, if you will!) that he does feel a little bit threatened by the presence of other men in Whitney's life. He says Whitney is a keeper, but he rolls his eyes while he does it, which sort of cancels it out. Still, it works because on their next date, a dinner party at her place, he asks her "Will you become my girlfriend?" Oh, lord. Only his third girlfriend ever! (And Whitney's third boyfriend. Yay?)
"Dating game's over for you, young lady," Jay playfully threatens as the lights of the city behind them come into focus. We would love to know Olivia's opinion on this. I mean, you can't just take the first guy, can you?!
Meanwhile, Erin's main man Duncan is still hanging around, but she likes the long distance--and after two weeks crashing at her place, he's ready to make the big move to NY. Boys! They never do take a hint! Erin's explanation for why she doesn't want him living there? She's 24 and "I want to have, like, things to look forward to in the future." What is this, "Bye Bye Birdie"?
