New Philly Restaurant: Bistrot La Minette

September 4, 2008 at 2:00 PM | 1 Comment

The hottest topic on the Philadelphia dining scene this summer was Parc, which had locals debating whether Philly restaurant mogul Stephen Starr's massive new bistro would be the next Buddakan or an overpriced faux-French stand-in.

Meanwhile, the much less hyped Bistrot La Minette opened on Sixth Street last week and more than a few Philly foodies are saying this one is the real deal.

Peter Woosley, who worked at Starr's old place, Striped Bass, is the head honcho at La Minette, which matches Parc with an antique-y French bistro décor, but with a lower-key, more flea market chic vibe.

Don't look for any fusion-y or modern French takes here; the menu is a straight-up Gallic classic, with dishes like pea soup, salmon tartare and mustard braised rabbit.

If that kind of grub piques your interest, Phoodie has an extensive collection of food porn from opening night.
