By his own admission, Obama should make time for the bailout vote: The $1.8 billion relief would force him to put some of his domestic spending programs on hold, including health care and environmental initiatives.
For McCain, the bailout is a question of handing out too much power and not enough accountability to Treasury Secretary Paulson: "When we are talking about a trillion dollars of taxpayer money, 'trust me' just isn't good enough." McCain is attending invite-only events in Strongsville and Middlesburg, Ohio today; he heads to Michigan tonight before joining the UN mess in midtown Manhattan tomorrow.
Republican veep candidate Sarah Palin wasn't on the Straight Talk Express at the time, but she may have been reminded of her running mate when she spoke at a Florida retirement home called The Villages yesterday. She joined McCain last night in Media, Pennsylvania and is taking a meeting with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger today at the UN. Foreign policy: You're doing it wrong?
