The National Mall becomes an open-air library on Saturday for the National Book Festival, co-hosted by First Librarian Laura Bush. Get psyched for a full day of book shopping, signings and activities by checking out Library of Congress podcasts featuring authors from the fest.

After the click, our picks for a day on the Mall:

10:35 am: Visit with Tony Horwitz, who has retraced the voyage of Captain Cook and hung out with Confederate battle re-enactors. (History & Biography Pavilion)

Noon: Find out if new Poet Laureate Kay Ryan can live up to her predecessors in one of her first public appearances since the honor was bestowed on her. (Poets' Pavilion)

1 pm: Double the value of our Frommer's guidebooks by getting them signed by father-and-daughter team Arthur and Pauline Frommer. (Home & Family Pavilion)

3:30 pm: Ever wanted to see a grown man look tiny? Former NFL player Tiki Barber reads from his children's books at the Children's Pavilion.
