The Hills Travel: I Always Thought You Were Way Too Nice to Me

September 2, 2008 at 9:10 AM | by egw | 1 Comment

Find your next male model with the guidance of the "Hills" episode "Better Off As Friends" and our Hills Season 4 Map.

Previously: Spencer and Heidi crashed Stephanie's birthday. Happy B-day: You're disowned! LC went on a date with Duh Doug and Whitney got a major promotion.

Whitney's off to New York City today at the beck and call of Kelly Cutrone, or as she puts it to Lauren, "When she wants you, she wants you." They set up for casting at the Soho Grand Hotel (310 W. Broadway) and Whit's first assignment is to get male models to take their clothes off and pose for pictures. Wow, hard life!

Kelly connives to get Whitney and one of the models, Alex, to go for drinks, but they only share a perfectly chaste walk and a talk about the differences between New York and LA. Later, Whitney tells Lauren how she asked Kelly, "Do I scream lonely or something?"

Lauren tells her not to settle and actually bears out that advice this week by breaking it off with Duh Doug. "I just remember liking him a lot more," she tells Whitney, "and I thought I would just hop back into it." At least one person isn't surprised besides us, and that's the guy who tells her point-blank that her "type" is guys she already dated. "I didn't see that going very far," scoffs Brody when they have dinner at Sushi Roku (8445 W. 3rd St.).

Now that the salaries of those kids on "The Hills" have been leaked to the press, we can confidently say that Brody more than earned his $10,000 this week--and deserves a bonus for asking Lauren "Can we talk about us getting naked?" Ha! Alas, Doug seems to be holding back tears when LC dumps him, with the sad protest line, "After you say I have a crush on you in a club..." Oh, Duh Doug. You are duhsposable.

Also, Stephanie relishes living alone ("I have to talk to the hamster a lot") and tells Lauren she can't wait to have "kickbacks" at her place. That word, Steph, doesn't mean what you think it means. Still, she can't help bringing an olive branch over to Spencer in the form of... a book about the CIA? Well, it's a great way to say "I'll be watching you"!

Of course, Spencer's just cranky because Holly is already moved in, although she gets no screen time in this episode. Heidi, meanwhile, loves it because "It's like 'Three's A Company.'" Oh, Lordy.
