Spirit Airlines Planning In-Cabin Advertising

September 18, 2008 at 12:14 PM | by | ()

Obviously, Spirit Airlines would be the carrier to try this. It didn't really work out for Skybus, but then again, the now-defunct LCC didn't lure in passengers with attention-grabbing fare sales.

Says a Spirit press release:

Ads by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism are being installed this week featuring the destination's colorful and visually appealing campaign on overhead bins, tray tables and bulkheads, as well as seatback inserts with special package offers to The Bahamas from Spirit Vacations.

And, yes, these ads will be inside every single plane Spirit flies. As the carrier says:

Where else can you find 100 percent saturation with a targeted captive audience that will be actively engaged by your ad for an average of three hours?

Why pay for a five-second gaze time on a billboard when you have more than 2,000 times the viewing exposure aboard a three-hour flight?

Update: The Travel Weekly Blog reminds us that Ryanair also has eye-melting in-cabin ads.
