Not only did it just have to cancel 40 flights because of a strike by a small, rebellious union, it's also losing more than 2 million ($2.84 m) a day. And now it's attracted the attention of the Guardia di Finanza, says The Guardian:
Officers of Italy's revenue guard turned up yesterday at the Rome headquarters of its bankrupt flag-carrier and walked out with 10 years' worth of company accounts. The operation was mounted by prosecutors investigating the airline's demise.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is still trying to unload Alitalia to any European carrier stupid enough to buy it--as unions fight amongst themselves to make deals that will keep the airline aloft.
