New NYC Restaurant: No. 7

September 17, 2008 at 10:30 AM | 1 Comment

Tyler Kord, former chef at West Village celeb-sighting spot Perry Street, is bringing the fancy out to Brooklyn with No. 7, a sleek new bar-restaurant currently soft opening in Fort Greene.

The menu in the narrow, white-walled dining room is small but adventurous, including combos we've never heard of before, like hangar steak with kimchi pierogies and fried broccoli with dill, grapefruit and black beans.

But we're even more excited about the long marble bar, which serves up quality New York brews like Six Points' Hop Obama and Genesee Cream Ale, along with an intriguing list of bar snacks. The French fries are perfectly crisp and served with an interesting balsamic mayo, but at $7, they might be the most expensive fries we've ever ordered, a development we're not excited about.

The after-midnight menu is even better, and includes crispy roast pig head. (It's actually just meat from the cheeks and jowls--not an entire head--but it's delectable all the same!)

    Exciting!

Sounds similar to the Good Fork in Red Hook, it also has some Korean fusion!
