And while the new carrier placed an order for 54 Boeing 737-800s, it will only have five of those aircraft in service by spring of 2010. In order to serve all its cities with a limited number of planes, says CEO Ghaith al Ghaith:
We'll be flying a combination of routes in order to fully utilize the time. Certain trips will have to be made in the morning and certain trips in the afternoon. We'll use the planes and time as efficiently as possible.
That extends to the in-flight service, too:
We are not going to add costs because we have to have certain things. We'll operate a very simple, no frills service. There won't be a fancy entertainment system like the ICE program on Emirates flights. There will be meals service but you'll have to pay extra.
Sounds a little like Skybus. Good thing they have someone around who knows the system!
