Gossip Girl Travel: Your Eyes Are Doing That Thing Where They Don't Match Your Mouth

September 2, 2008 at 8:00 AM | by egw | 1 Comment

Walk in the footsteps of the "Gossip Girl" season premiere "Summer Kind of Wonderful" with our Gossip Girl Map.

Previously: "Sex, lies and scandal" may never take a vacation, but "Gossip Girl" has been off for three months. Blair and Chuck were together... well, temporarily; Dan and Serena broke up, and Jenny decided to not try to be part of that world any more. Ha! Try to stay away, J!

The dusty streets of the Upper East Side have been swapped for the green lawns of the Hamptons, so who stuck the drama in a Vera Bradley duffel for the road? Blair shocks the swains when she returns from Paris early in order to attend the season-ending White Party. But she didn't come alone--she brought summer fling James with her to make Chuck jealous. OK, so maybe he's more of a Mr. Right Now than a Mr. Right, but even Chuck's entire harem can't make up for the fact that he really, really misses Blair. Like, in a near-tears way.

Back in working New York, Dan and Jenny are forced to face the fact that summer internships never helped anyone. Jenny's supervisor at Eleanor Waldorf Inc. has no respect for her and the dress she slaved all summer to make her for the White Party. Dan's been assisting alcoholic writer Jeremiah Harris (Jay McInerney) but he can't complete his one outstanding assignment, a short story about "the dissolution of a relationship between two people from different worlds." Wonder why...

Meanwhile, Nate wouldn't have any interest in the White Party if his summer fling weren't guaranteed to attend--with her husband! After Catherine (Madchen Amick) forces him out the window in his boxers, he figures it's over and takes Serena as his date.

All of our gossip girls and guys converge at the White Party, where Jenny (as Erik's plus-one) shows off her dress to real-life socialite Tinsley Mortimer and Nate confirms his fling with Catherine is so not over when he gives Serena a passionate kiss. Dan sees that passionate kiss and reads his ex the riot act, but only until the two girls he's been dating throw their drinks on his white suit. Then everything is totes OK!

As for Blair and Chuck, they're totally meant for each other but he can't tell her that. Blair finally comes clean to James about how she used him, but her interest in him deepens when she finds out he isn't James from Georgetown, but Lord Marcus. "When you told me I was boring," he says to Blair, "no one ever tells me things like that." True romance.

Next week: Chuck gets revenge on Blair by getting a cougar lady lover! And Blair doesn't get to meet Marcus' parents yet. Uh oh...

    soo good

ok so you know by now that i think the first season of the OC is like unbeatable when it comes to teen dramas--even beating out my all-time fave, Dawson's Creek.

but this episode of Gossip Girl was like the best one ever. ever!

i got a little worried bc blair and serena talking by the pool and catching up about their summer seemed so Marissa and Summer at the start of the OC's second season (which was a failure.) and when Serena went on a date with honky (pun intended) lifeguard, it totally mirrored Marissa's gardener hookup. plus blair's perkiness and cute play on words was totally screaming Summer. i started to get a little worried!*

but gossip girl went its own way. and everything just didn't seem as cheesy as it used to. perhaps because rufus was not all over that episode?

*one exception: long live the "chuck bass-tard."
