NFL Travel: Foxboro Trying to Keep Pats Fans for the Weekend

September 2, 2008 at 10:30 AM | 0 Comments

Anyone who has been to Boston--or has met anyone from the city--knows that watching the local sports teams play is something akin to a religious ceremony for most Bostonians. And those that worship at the temple of the New England Patriots now have a little more space to love in.

As the NFL season gets underway, the Pats are unveiling the anchors of the massive new Patriot Place complex, a 1.3-million-square-foot shopping, dining and entertainment district that gives fans a reason to stay in Foxboro after the game.

Adjacent to Gillette Stadium, the complex includes a Patriots Hall of Fame, which will hold an inaugural induction ceremony on September 18, and recently debuted Showcase Live, a 500-seat live music venue, as well as a new outpost of popular Boston Italian steakhouse Davio's.

Opening in the next week are the chi-chi Tastings Wine Bar and Bistro and the first CBS Scene (think ESPN Zone, but with add-ons from Survivor and CSI). Coming in 2009? A Marriott hotel, so you can eat, drink and even sleep Patriots.
