The L's decide not to engage Mr. and Ms. Scary at this juncture and leave the party. So basically Spencer has won, which makes his next move even more inexplicable: The day after the party, for no apparent reason, he goes to visit his sister and lets loose a flood of invective so delicious we could not resist deleting her weak protests and stringing it all together in a monologue:
All we were was nice to you and all of a sudden you jump ship to the bad guys. When there's two ships, that's jumping ship.
And in your head, you're the peacemaker, "I wanna make friends with everyone," and you got caught up. And I get that! It's like, "Woooo! It's fun, fun friends with everybody! Why can't we all just get along?"
It's like trying to tell Iran and Israel to get along. It's not gonna happen. It's not about why or what you did... I don't wanna be friends with you. Do you get that? It's like you're CHOOSING to be with this person who you've known for--3 months? How long have you--How long have you known me? 22 years?
At the end of the day, I can't make you un-my sister. Trust me, if I could in the past, I would've. I don't want to see you, I don't want to hang out with you. As long as you're rollin' around with that posse, you have nothing to do with my life. And that's straight up."
Are you thinking what we're thinking?
Spoiler alert?
Meanwhile: The three faces of Whitney! Her boss comes to L.A. and she's nervous because she's still new. (So why is LC not nervous? Anyone?) She manages to pull it together for a big dinner with boss Kelly Cutrone at Simon Restaurant, who scares the crap out of everyone in an incoherently edited pep talk, the gist of which is, "We grow, you'll all move up. If not, people are going to be bumped." She also wants to move Whitney to New York and Whitney is frightened. C'mon, Whit, NYC ain't so bad!
BossKelly kicks that transformation into high gear by firing her current assistant Jessica (who has spoken to the press about feeling sandbagged by "The Hills," but that's neither here nor there) and offering her that job. "You'd continue work, but you'd basically be my shadow," Kelly says. Apparently Whitney has a "need to delegate," which suggests she really is a good worker and not just being promoted by the cameras, as it were. This situation is left tantalizingly unresolved.
Oh yeah, the reason LC asked Stephanie if she could bring a guy to the party was because she went out on another date with Duh Doug, even though he's tagged as her "friend." He tries to get her to take a day off from work, protesting "Everything in your life is hectic." Hey, we're not all minor-league baseball players, dude.
