Possible Presidents Travel: Denver and Disappearance

August 21, 2008 at 2:05 PM | 0 Comments

Hey, anyone know where John McCain is? The presumptive Republican nominee's website is plugging next week's pre-convention rallies in Dayton, Ohio and Washington, Pennsylvania, billed as "Road to the Convention." Of course, driving from Ohio to Pennsylvania isn't really on the road to Minneapolis, but the Straight Talk Express doesn't always have to travel in a straight line.

Given the fallout from an interview he gave yesterday in which McCain couldn't say how many houses he had, a strategically placed photo of himself and wife Cindy pitching a tent at Yellowstone would be a huge boon. It might even help counter Barack Obama's brand-new attack ad.

Speaking of Obama, he's wrapping up a stretch of appearances in North Carolina and Virginia and just announced a rally on Saturday in Springfield, Illinois, where he officially announced his campaign in 2007. With leaks suggesting it'll be the spot where Obama has the first dance with his chosen running mate, the capital city and former putative "Simpsons" home can expect swarms of fans and dirty journalists.

Next week, Barack will make tracks across Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri and Montana en route to the DNC. While speculation still rules, you have plenty of time to fake an Obama Veep nomination announcement while frantically scanning the ticker.
