Twitter Insta-Reviews: Terrifying Restaurateurs in 140 Characters or Less

August 12, 2008 at 11:30 AM | 5 Comments

We've heard of restaurant owners banning digital cameras, but will they be able to stop the Twitterati from posting mini-reviews between bites? Probably not!

The newly opened Parc is already getting mixed reviews on Twitter. Annie Heckenberger recommends going elsewhere if you're looking for killer escargot:

btw - for those of u wondering, the decor/environment @ parc is a 10. the food is a 3. if u want good brasserie food, stick to perrier.

Another Philly phoodie seconds that thought:

parc at night is just stupid crazy loud...although a whos who of philly.

    this is...

too funny. They also confused our food :-(. They gave Annie my well-done and gave me her medium-rare. Although my fav. color is rojo, no me gusta ver anything like that in my food.

    Restaurant 10, Food 3...

Is it like the food industry version of Looks 10, Dance 3?

    Twitteriffic

I love twitter b/c it is right here, right now.  However, I can see the restaurateur's point of view in that everyone thinks they are a restaurant critic.

I was in Mendocino and Fort Bragg recently and one restaurant owner said, "I can't stand bloggers.  Most of them don't know what they're talking about."

His comment may be true, but twitter maniacs know what they like and don't like and are very good at viral marketing.

    Parc

I'm lucky enough to have been to Parc four times already... the decor is a 10, the service has improved a hundred fold since the first week, and most of the food I've tried has been pretty good. The French onion soup improved since the first trial (at the beginning they had too much sherry... but now it's delicious). I also had a great club with avocado and the steak frites were awesome. I think, like with any restaurant, it just needed a few weeks to work out the kinks.

    Twitter, it's just WOM online

For the record, I held my tweeting until I left the establishment;) Twittering an opinion isn't much different than gabbing to friends at a party. A very large party, since my twitter broadcasts to over 1000 friends;) BTW, the escargot was the best thing that we ordered.
