Food Travel: A Cherry Good Time

July 7, 2008 at 1:00 PM | by | Comments (0)

If you're anything like us, you probably celebrated the Fourth of July weekend American-style: by eating your way through it. So if all the hot dogs, hamburgers, corn dogs and apple pie have you in the mood for something more easily digestible, check out a much healthier food extravaganza this week: The National Cherry Festival.

Traverse City, Michigan--the country's cherry capital, in case you didn't know--is celebrating its favored fruit all week long, with events every day from morning till night.

The fest runs through July 12, with highlights including the cherry film festival, a grand buffet of cherry-centric foods and even cherry pit spitting contests. And in case you're still in the mood for gluttony, there's a cherry pie eating contest too.
