Contemporary Art Travel: A New Philly Freebie

July 7, 2008 at 9:15 AM | 0 Comments

Nothing's more appealing to our ears than hearing about brand new freebies, like admission to the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philly. The museum, through underwriting via a recent super-donation, has just announced it will charge zero admission for the next five years.

Head there for a fun summer getaway and check out current exhibits like "Mike's World" (through August 3), the first major retrospective of internationally renowned performance/video/installation artist Michael Smith and his New York-based collaborator, director/artist Joshua White.

For foodies there's Trenton Doyle Hancock's "Wow That's Mean and Other Vegan Cuisine" (also through August 3), part of a narrative installation between the Mounds (human-plant hybrids) and the Vegans (a tofu-worshipping mutant species of ape man).

ICA is on the campus of UPenn and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so be sure to plan your gratis visit accordingly.
