It's time to beat the blazing, uncomfortable days of summer with a little humor, and Will Ferrell-style laughs are a good choice. Our favorite love-handled man is back with John C. Reilly in "Step Brothers," opening today.

The two play spoiled rich adult men (translation: they act like 12-year-olds) whose single parents get married, sparking a competition between Brennan (Will) and Dale (John). Of course it involves pranks, antics and shots of both flabby dudes in bathing suits, which is always worth a cheap laugh.

This one was shot in LA, but also in a fun, laid-back spot outside the city: Pasadena. No longer a city entirely made up of little old ladies, we offer you some cool things to check out there:

Where To Stay: Artists' Inn Bed & Breakfast Pretend you live in town and check into this homey B&B in South Pasadena, originally built in 1895. Rooms are all artist-themed and feature works (well, prints) by them. Make sure you get some time outside to admire the 100 rosebushes in the garden and take a breather with tea in the afternoon.

Where To Eat: Mi Piace Right in the heart of Old Town is this bustling, chic Italian kitchen/bakery/lounge. The space is minimalist and modern with a stainless steel martini bar, red leather couches and an open kitchen. The menu features Italian specialties and the black and white bread pudding for dessert never fails.

What to See: Gamble House A prime example of classic American Arts and Crafts style architecture, the Gamble was built in 1908 for for David and Mary Gamble of the Procter and Gamble Company. Now a museum, guided tours of the perfectly-maintained interiors are available each day (buy tickets in the bookstore first) and a special "behind the velvet rope" tour will take you to places on the property usually off-limits to the public.
