All We Are Saying is Give Jamaican Bobsledding a Chance

Everybody likes stories about unlikely heroes, and the Jamaican bobsledding team certainly qualifies. Although they never wore Olympic gold, their solid finishes in the 1988 and 1992 winter games were impressive enough to garner them worldwide media acclaim, as well as a 1993 film depiction starring the late John Candy as the sledders' coach. Since no idea is too small or too old to squeeze a few more dollars out of, Carnival Corporation and Rain Forest Trams Limited have combined to create the brand-spanking new Mystic Mountain Rain Forest Bobsled Jamaica. The 100-acre park in Ocho Rios, Jamaica features the Rain Forest Sky Explorer (a chairlift that takes visitors 700 feet up through the canopy to the top of Mystic Mountain), a zip-line adventure course, and Bobsled Jamaica. The latter is a 1,000-meter gravity-powered bobsled track that curves around ancient trees and skirts precarious cliff faces. I somehow doubt snow and ice are involved, except in the frozen alcoholic beverages that are sure to cap off any visit. Since the attraction is designed for the cruise-line set, I wouldn't expect too much in the way of authentic Jamaican cultural experience, but if you're just looking to add an outdoorsy adrenaline component to your vacation, you could do worse than this lush, natural park on the northern coast of Jamaica.
