New iPhone Travel Goodies: British Airways and More

With the release of the new iPhone, Apple went a little application-crazy, allowing its users to add a ton more gizmos than were previously allowed. (These applications are available to owners of the old iPhone like ourselves as well.)

After we completed our iPhone 2.0 update, we began to look at the Apple Application Store for some cool freebies to download.

On today's featured list was something from British Airways. The application itself is nothing spectacular. Users can check arrival and departure times and look at timetables. But already BA employees have flooded the review section with nothing but positive things to say.

Of eight reviews (as of this morning), about six were gushing sorts like, "BA is the best airline ever!" There were a few real ones, though, like this:

But will it tell me if my bag will get lost in T5?

There are a ton of other travel-related apps on the iPhone and you can find some of them here if you aren't an iPhone owner yourself.

Some are unbelievably specific---the Hawaii Gas Finder or the Jakarta Bar Guide, anyone?--but others are more mainstream like those from Travel Channel, Frommer's, TripAdvisor, Lonely Planet and Travelocity. Possible BA quasi-merger partner American Airlines has an application, too.
