The rally is known for celebs like Adrien Brody, Travis Barker and even Donna Karan, mixing it up with the anonymously well-to-do, jaunting across countries and partying five-star every night.
But, of course, the race is not without controversy. In between cities some of the faster cars have gotten in some trouble with local highway patrols. (One vehicle, a Koenigsegg supercar, was ticketed in Texas en route to Miami for going 242 mph.)
The rally begins in San Francisco on August 9 and ends in Beijing eight days later to add some international spirit to the Olympics. Many of the racers are known for pushing the limits with their hot cars, which should go over exceptionally well in China. Or, more likely, will go over to a Beijing prison.
