Once it was the glamorous home of Summer, Marissa and Eyebrows McGee Sandy Cohen, but Orange County, California has fallen on hard times care of the subprime mortgage mess as borrowers high and low are forced to face the facts about their financial security.

California tourism may not have slumped completely, but we don't want to believe that all the sexiness has gone out of SoCal. Come along with us on a pub crawl of denial at these hot spots:

Sushi on Fire :: Just the name of this joint close to both Manning Park and the beach makes us want to put on our flame-retardant goggles. We think it refers to how spicy the sushi is, but the hot girls in sundresses don't hurt. 301 Main St., Huntington Beach

Ruby's Diner :: Eat a bacon waffle (?!) or a bleu cheese burger for breakfast on the pier where the big waves come in. 900 Ocean Ave., Seal Beach
