If you'd rather enjoy your day riding roller coasters, head down the freeway to Disneyland. The California classic always goes big when it comes to holidays, and this year is no exception. The park is open till midnight with the main fireworks show, Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky, kicking off at about 9:30. Just be sure to head out to the park early, as they've been known to turn guests away as the place reaches capacity.
Next, the CBS Studio Center in Studio City kicks things off with live music celebrating 80 years of Studio City. The music comes to an end with Escape, a Journey tribute band, as this 10th annual event wraps up the evening with a fireworks display. There's a kids fun zone, magicians and a business expo--though we're not really sure about that one. Tickets start at $10 for adults, but since this is LA, there are VIP ticket packages galore!
All the major beach towns offer a variation on the classic Independence Day celebration. Redondo Beach, Laguna Beach and Newport Beach all get into the action, and Huntington Beach celebrates its 104th year of fun on the nation's birthday.
If you miss all the action during the peak holiday weekend, then be sure to catch a Dodgers game on July 12. A little late, but still a good time, Dodger Stadium is home to a booming fireworks show after games.
