Film Festival Travel: Nantucket

Summer film-going doesn't always have to mean massive blockbusters. Combine a great getaway with a well-established film festival in a stunning location and you're set. The 13th Annual Nantucket Film Festival runs June 19-22, featuring independent, studio-produced, foreign, documentary and short films in every genre, including world and US premieres.

Aside from the films, there are screenplay readings, a cool late-night event where storytellers get it done without notes or scripts, panel discussions and a "Morning Coffee With..." series where guests get to hang out for a casual hour-long conversation with prominent guests (think folks like Steve Martin, Steve Buscemi and more...)

Festival passes run from $55 to $1,000, and be sure not to miss the cool after-parties at places like the Whaling Museum where you can drink up under a skeleton of a sperm whale.

The festival's also teamed up with The Beachside, a local hotel in the Brant Point neighborhood, just five minutes from Main Street. Rates start around $200.

    You would be amazed...

...how many familiar faces you see at this little shing-ding. Nantucket is super posh in the summer, well worth a jaunt even when the celebs aren't out 'en force flaunting their goodies. But the 'ships' they arrive on are worth visiting during this weekend for - - talk about luxury. We're talking mansions with anchors.
