Yet Another Fung Wah Bus Crash

June 23, 2008 at 5:07 PM | by pbb | 3 Comments

Speaking of cheap buses, a Fung Wah coach jumped onto a New York sidewalk this morning, killing a woman who was waiting to board.

Amazingly, this accident might not be the fault of the chronically safety-challenged company: A dump truck coming off the Manhattan Bridge rear-ended the bus as it was idling and propelled it onto the curb and into a bank.

A few other people were injured in the incident but not as many as when a Fung Wah bus flipped over in September 2006. That crash hurt 34 passengers who are probably content to take BoltBus these days.

    Cursed!

Even when they're not trying to cause damage to humans and property alike, Fung Wah can't help but be the catalyst for disaster.

    ooo

Ohhh schnap. I've totally been wedged up against the side of many a Fung Wah in the mass hysteria to board. Little did I know I was braving more than just lice to get to Boston.

    wow

Looking back, this article sounds even more ridiculous than when I first read it. Yes, the safety of these buses is questionable, but even preliminary reports placed blame SOLELY on the truck and it's driver, not the bus, which was parked where it was supposed to be at the time. If Fung-Wah had any idea what PR was, they'd probably try to straighten this out with you. Until then, get your facts straight and stop being alarmist and accusatory when the facts clearly show the Fung-Wah bus and it's driver didn't do anything wrong in this situation where an innocent person was killed.
