American Airlines Blog on Life Support

May 9, 2008 at 11:30 AM | by | Comment (1)

The most recent update on the American Airlines blog is dated April 28. That's 11 days ago. Guess the carrier doesn't have much news to share with us.

Come to think of it, the airline wasn't really sharing much information anyway. Between non-denials of merger rumors and an interesting but ultimately useless announcement of a new Facebook app, AA hasn't done much that can be missed.

Maybe the updates have stopped because the airline is at work on something a little more substantive? Let's hope so--for AA's sake. There's some serious airline blog competition out there.

Not unusual

It seems to epitomize the problems most companies have with Web 2.0 engagement.  They stumble upon (forgive please) the idea that they should do it, but after that it gets dropped.  I've followed so many corporate blogs that are either dead stopped or so infrequent as to have no value.  It leaves me wondering how important they thought it was in the first place.
