Cyrus Yazdani is a 24-year-old convention planner in Las Vegas. But the police say he's also a prolific Los Angeles graffiti artist who goes by the street name "Buket."
Yazdani caught the attention from the 5-0 after appearing on YouTube pulling off daring graffiti stunts like tagging a bridge while hanging precariously over the Hollywood freeway. After watching the clips, a city investigator became weirdly obsessed with bringing Buket down.
Sheriff's Deputy Devin Vanderlaan says he became interested in Buket after seeing him spray paint a city bus in an internet video (very NSFW rap soundtrack included). He told the LA Times that he began tracking Yazdani because:
If he's brave enough to tag on an MTA bus in the middle of the day, I've gotta find out who this guy is.
After following him "for months," the deputy determined that Buket was "one of the most prolific taggers we've seen" and was responsible for graffiti throughout California and Nevada. Yazdani, who faces multiple charges of felony vandalism, was arrested when he showed up to meet with his probation officer about--yep--another graffiti charge.
