Sure, this weekend is the unofficial start of summer. More importantly, though, it's the mega-official start of outdoor beer-drinking season. We believe it was Washington Irving who so succinctly summed it up, saying, "They who drink beer will think beer."
We've most definitely got cold beer on the brain but before we crack our first tall boy, we thought we'd put together a big list of suds festivals for ya. Enjoy.
Saturday May 24
Jump the shark at The Rivershark Pub located in George, Washington. The bar is opening its new, huge beer garden this weekend, just in time for Sasquatch Festival. (Don't ask, just go.)
Sunday May 25
Head over to legendary party-and-ski resort Arapahoe Basin for their 7th Annual Festival of the Brewpubs and Memorial Weekend Beach Party. Couldn't come up with a shorter name, guys?
We love us some lambic, and this is the weekend to taste the gammut at The Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation in Buggenhout, Belgium. Not to be missed are the 15 accommodations offered for when all you can say is "baaaaaa."
Monday May 26
What beer-drenched weekend would be complete without a llittle pig on top? Head north to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin for the 3rd Annual Swine & Swill festival. The website is pretty tame, but with a name like that, you can expect epic-ness. Break out your horned, fur-trim half dome hat to complete your fest outfit.
Meanwhile, New York's Water Taxi Beach is hosting a little Memorial Day fun with an all-day program of electronic music from Brooklyn's Deepa Grooves and friends. And, yeah, there's beer.
Remember!
Be safe, get canned and have your sober friend drive you home. We'll see ya back here on Tuesday.
