As we learned all week long Sanibel is a perfect place to spend a few days, but if it's the sunset you're after then head to Captiva--by far the best spot to watch the sun dip into the horizon. If you're on vacation with a small group then consider a sunset sail on the New Moon--a 40-foot sloop that departs from the 'Tween Waters Inn.

For $350, captain Mick Gurley will take you and five others on a three-hour sail on the Gulf of Mexico. Once aboard you'll spot dolphins, manatees and sea otters swimming in the bay and not soon after you'll marvel at a stunning island sunset. At around 9 pm you'll return to the Tween Waters where you should immediately head to the Crow's Nest, a casual bar that hosts twice-weekly crab races.

Every Monday and Thursday Tim Jardas--the self-proclaimed king of crabs--has his team of "thoroughbred hermit crabs" race from the center of a round table towards an outer concentric circle. Choose a crab, give it a name and place your bet. If yours reaches the finish first you'll split part of the pot with the United Way and take home a handful of prizes hand selected by Tim himself.

Brace yourself: Nascrab is probably the most excitement you'll see in sleepy Captiva.
