David LaHuta just got back from Florida, and he's telling us all about it this week. Keep up with our Sanibel and Captiva Map.

Who knew there was so much to do on Sanibel and Captiva Islands? So far you've gone shelling on the Gulf of Mexico and just yesterday you spotted tons of birds and reptiles at JN "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Preserve.

For an island experience that's equally as unique, look no further than The Bubble Room, a kitschy, hodgepodge of a restaurant that specializes in quirky meals and wacky décor. Picture TGI Friday's on crack and you'll begin understand what this place is all about.

Named after the bright bubbling lights that adorned many 1950s-era Christmas trees, The Bubble Room is a tribute to generations past--and it's got the collection to prove it. Antique toys, movie memorabilia and old-school Christmas decorations dominate every surface of the restaurant, and all of its tables are glass-topped memory boxes filled with old-school childhood trinkets like Monopoly money, stuffed monkeys and plastic hatchets.

Waiters and waitresses are dressed up as boy and girl scouts. Ask one to take your picture under the Tunnel of Love--a makeshift two-seater boat under a faux-stone tunnel. (It's next to the phone booth with the life-sized cut out of Clark Kent changing into Superman.) Oh yeah, did we mention that the restaurant also serves food?

Order from a selection of celebrity-inspired dishes including the Marilyn Monrolls (Southwestern-style eggrolls with roasted corn and cheddar), Duck Ellington (roasted with an orange and banana sauce) or Beignet Goodman (grouper beignettes lightly battered and fried golden brown). Don't forget your camera.

Duck Ellington... (none / 0)

I love it. Restaurants these days don't have nearly enough menu puns.
