So you're nursing a hangover from yesterday's pit stop at the Domino Club--the laid-back rum shack in St. Croix's rainforest where you can feed pigs cans of beer--and you've already conquered the snorkeling at Buck Island and the waves at Sandy Point.

It's high time for a night on the town, Caribbean-style. If you're searching for island-inspired food and the longest wine list on St. Croix, then look no further than Restaurant Bacchus.

Housed in a restored Danish townhouse in downtown Christiansted, Bacchus takes it's name from the Roman god of wine, so it's no wonder the restaurant has won Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence ten times. Its wine list is massive--147 labels to be exact. Best of all every Wednesday is two-for-one night: Just order an entrée and you'll get two bottles of wine for the price of one. (Don't worry: You don't have to drink them both at the table.)

As for the food, it's top notch. Starters include its signature beet salad with candied pecans, crumbled gorgonzola and a drizzle of white truffle oil and the whimsically named Holy Moly Ravioli which features two freshly made raviolis often stuffed with curried lobster. The entrées are equally creative. The restaurant's scallops are spiced five ways then served with a coconut red curry sauce and the Lobster Bacchus is an island favorite: the meat is sautéed in a triple-crème brie sauce then put back in the shell and broiled till golden.

Considering the service in most island restaurants follows the pace of island life (read: slow), the wait staff at Bacchus has gloriously bucked the trend--attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable, the servers are another piece of a tasty island puzzle.
