Despite ATA Collapse, Southwest Still Wants to Fly You Abroad

Southwest has been looking to take its passengers international via code-share partnerships for a long time. So when it's small partnership with ATA was severed after the airline went bankrupt, we were wondering what Southwest was gonna do.

Well, don't get too excited just yet, but Southwest is still planning to fly to Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean:

The largest US domestic airline by passengers said it is talking to a number of overseas carriers that could feed traffic into Southwest's system for the first time.

These partnerships probably won't go into effect until sometime in 2009 but the airline is working on more immediate deals to get its passengers to Hawaii--routes ATA used to handle.
