This is a subject of discussion that is being heard more often.  
The attitude of many luxury train owners is that promoting the increased use of electronics in the special atmosphere of a luxury train can detract from the enjoyment of other passengers.  A train journey can be a welcome retreat from the hurly burly of everyday life.
It could be said that, like it or not, the use of WiFi is symptomatic of our modern way of life, and to ignore it is to restrict the market for luxury train travel.
A few trains are embracing WiFi - such as the ultra-modern hyper-luxury Tangula Trains which are due to start operations in China later this year.

As for WiFi on the Golden Eagle rans-Siberian Express,  I think I welcomed the excuse not to work for a few days, taking the chance to be sociable with other passengers and to stare out of the window at the endless expanses of Russia.
After all 'what life is this, if so full of care, we have to time to stand and stare?'
However it is inevitable that WiFi will become more available on luxury trains in the near future.
