Skybus Flight Review: $10 Tix Not Worth the Hassle?

February 4, 2008 at 1:45 PM | by | Comments (4)

It took her a lot of words to finally get around to her point, but Boston Globe reporter Nicole Wong didn't really care for Skybus:

In the end, our $20 one-way ticket cost us $122.35 with taxes, perks, and ground transportation. If you value saving money more than saving time, the $10 seats may be worth it for you. On our next trip, though, we will book a regular airfare.

Interestingly, Wong stopped off in Canal Winchester, Ohio, the town Skybus was hyping late last year. Was it worth a stop? Sure doesn't sound like it. Then again, we're not the world's biggest barber shop museum fans.

flawed review

Nicole Wong's review is basically flawed because she went almost 60 miles by public transportation to fly out of Portsmouth, NH. This is the reason her $10 tickets became a $122 trip. 60 miles by public transportation ? YIkes, no wonder she didnt like the trip.

Skybus Again

I have posted before about Skybus. I am sold on the concept. Last week 1 co-workers and I decided we wanted to play a round of goldf. Understand that at the time it is a high of 0, in Columbus. We booked tickets on Skybus, to Greensboro. Left at 6am, got home at 7PM, and played golf in the middle. The flights were on time, flight attendants and pilots professional, and fun, and new planes. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this experience. 3 guys, 3 tickets, all for less than $150.00 Cannot beat it. Way to Go, Skybus!!

I agree

I agree with the post by Kevin. This journalist set herself up for failure. My opinion, she was looking for something to go wrong. Skybus, is making the flying establishment take a hard look at themselves. There are now people flying, who could not afford to, on the established airlines.

bought my tickets

well im going to see my aunt and uncle in st. augustine in July for a total round trip price of $32 (and that includes taxes!!). I'm so happy i might even buy skybus's cheap sun glasses !!!!
