Christian
Tim visits Christian first who lives in a little walk-up in a undetermined neighborhood. Christian basically makes it work in a little box, complete with a murphy bed. But Christian grew up in Annapolis, Maryland. Annapolis? But it's so WASPY! Yes, it's true.
The pics of Christian as a little boy are adorable but so not fierce. Once he started working in a hair salon in 13, that's when the Christian we knew was born.
He shows off his line to Tim who is concerned it might be too much, "You have to ask yourself, 'When do I not need something?'" Tim also worries it's too costumey. Still, we think Christian is the most determined to win. Afterall, he has to get out of that box.
Jillian
Next up, Tim drops in on Jillian who lives and works in Brooklyn. Her apartment is rad complete with a view of of the city skyline.
Tim loves her stuff and we are impressed with her 15th century armor influence. Then again, we are obsessed with "The Tudors" so that's no real surprise. What is a surprise is that we get to meet Jillian's family! In Long Island! And they think Tim is way cooler than Santa Claus
Also, we are jealous how Jillian makes a wintry/Christmas-y sweater looks hot. Then she talks about being famous and being the next big thing and that turns us off.
Rami
Tim trips it out west to visit Rami in Los Angeles who lives in a bright sunny place--very different than NYC.
We learn a bit about Rami's family--his mom was Miss Jordan in the 1960s--but sadly passed away when he was very young. He talks a bit more about getting into fashion, then we see a pic of Rami with hair!
Rami has his own studio too which is huge. He shows off to Tim his collection which is inspired by Joan of Arc. Immediately we think of Jillian. Tim is also concerned that it's too "hammered and nailed." Not to mention too heavy.
Chris
Around this time that they were filming the contestants in their homes, we spied Chris March walking around Chelsea. And we just want to say, "We were so right that Chris was in the finals!"
Anyways, Tim visits Chris at his work space near the Empire State Building. His inspiration in beauty with a quirk--the quirk part being human hair on a jacket which sets off Tim's gag reflex. Ugh.
Tim's compares his line to the Monkey House at the zoo which is pretty funny. Yet Chris is determined to keep the human hair. Yuck.
Things get crazier when Chris takes Tim to his crazy friend Barry's apartment which is stocked with eclectic furnishings, to say the least. Then we learn about Chris' childhood and early drag design career in San Francisco. Mildly interesting.
So Who Wins?
This is pretty obvious. Human hair on the runway never goes over well. Even though the designers admired Chris' handiwork (we did too), it's just a little too much.
Rami on the other hand had very sophisticated stuff that is probably the best we have seen all season. True, the contestants on this show are rather boring but the designers are super talented. Thus, Rami is in, Chris is Auf-ed.
