JetBlue Starting Transcontinental Service

JetBlue is hosting a press conference at LAX today, and the local media says the carrier will be announcing new service to SoCal's biggest airport. Plans call for three flights a day between JFK and Los Angeles and one flight daily between Boston and LAX.
While neither the airline nor the airport is commenting on the new routes, LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is, via a spokesman:
The addition of JetBlue's new air service at LAX will create more local jobs and foster the opportunity for economic growth in the city of Los Angeles.
The low cost carrier already offers lots of flights out of Long Beach, and flights from JFK also land at Burbank and Ontario, California. And we probably don't have to remind you about the other LCC flying this particularly in-demand route. It's Virgin America.
