East Coast State Of Mind
"Dear John," a new movie based on another sappy Nicholas Sparks’ novel and starring teen heartthrob Channing Tatum, is filming on Poe Avenue in Sullivan's Island, South Carolina today. Known for its beautiful coastal views and rich history, the island is a must see for those visiting the Charleston area. Just don’t plan on staying long: This tight knit small town offers few rental properties or hotel options.
Moving up the coast, the upcoming NBC drama "Kings," which premieres in March, is filming at the Hempstead House in Port Washington, New York. The famous Long Island Castle was owned by Daniel and Florence Guggenheim in the 1920s. At the time, the house represented extravagance and elegance, employed a staff of more than 17 and was *the* place for New York’s elite to party. The mansion is now open to the public for tours or walks throughout the grounds.
