This week in the Pratt-Montag household: Heidi's miffed mother, Darlene Egelhoff, told US Weekly she's "devastated" about not being included in wedding plans and predicts the match will not last longer than six months.
Back in season 3, it was to her house in Crested Butte, Colorado that Heidi fled and Spencer chased her. More recently, Egelhoff had lunch with Spencer where she called him "very controlling and manipulative" to his face, but that didn't really deter him. (Does anything?) So, she was never really on Team Spencer. Heidi shot back, saying she found it "extremely disappointing" for her mom to suggest Spencer manipulated her into getting hitched.
Meanwhile, the tabloid's competitors are claiming that the marriage may not ever be official in the States. In Touch claims the wedding was a sham, staged to fulfill a contract with US to provide a certain number of cover-worthy exclusives, and that a Mexican waiting-period law would make an impulsive on-the-beach wedding impossible. Wedding site The Knot gives a laundry list of documents that need to be taken to the consulate in the case of a legal wedding, including birth certificates and blood tests and X-rays performed in the country, and suggests brides allow "two to four days" to get all their paperwork in order. But knowing Spencer as we do, he could just be devious enough to plan all that out without our notice...
Thank goodness the entire dog-and-pony show will be featured on "The Hills"' fifth season.
