Happy Repeal Day

December 5, 2008 at 10:30 AM | by BS | 1 Comment

A few weeks back, we told you that the beer industry was pushing December 5, the 75th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition, as a natioal day of celebration, but we wondered why few people were partying.

Well now it seems a good few of you have gotten your acts together, and folks coast-to-coast are getting ready to celebrate like it's 1933. Here's our guide to the best Repeal Day parties going down this Friday:

For DC high rollers, the City Tavern Club has 1930's jazz and dancing all night, along with complimentary top-shelf cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, although there's a hefty entrance price of $80.

Philly's Memphis Taproom will feature recession-era pricing, pouring $1 draft beers from 3 pm-4 pm.

LA's Comme Ca does them one better, with 75-cent classic cocktails.

But New York's Forge has the best deal we've seen: 25-cent French 75 cocktails (gin, champagne, lemon juice and sugar).

    25-cent cocktails

Anyone who goes all-out on that deal is gonna wake up Saturday and put a personal prohibition on drinking for the rest of eternity.
