Where to Shop:
If somehow you aren’t satisfied with your comic book choices at the convention, you’ll want to stop off at Forbidden Planet on Broadway and 13th or Jim Hanley’s Universe, on 33rd Street. The Museum of Comic & Cartoon Art is worth a look too, especially for the aspiring artist.
Where to Stay:
If you feel the need to stay as close to the Javits Center as possible, there's a Comfort Inn nearby. If you don't mind staying in a construction zone, The Standard NYC is in a soft-opening stage and isn't too far from the convention center. The Pod Hotel seems designed for comics geeks, but you'll be facing a long commute from the east side.
Where to Eat:
For hardcore attendees who don't want to miss a minute of NYCC, the Javits Center itself has a large dining room, The Café, where they serve a variety of sandwiches, salads, snacks and breakfast. But there are also few restaurant choices within walking distance including Skylight Diner, Daisy May's BBQ and the thematically named Manganaro's Heroboy.
