A Cool Costume Party

Here's the thing about most New Year's Eve theme parties: They are lame. Always seems like a lot of fun on paper, but the sight of adults forced to dress up (and looking miserable doing it) is no way to celebrate anything. But 2008 is the Year of the Pirate, so we're making an exception for Bootie SF's New Year's Eve pirate-themed dance party.

Bootie SF is a bi-monthly shindig, born in 2003, featuring DJs who mash up the hits for a crowded dance floor. Snag a $25 advance ticket and don your suggested, but not required, pirate attire for three-plus hours of crazed dancing and letting go of 2008. Who will be the first to bravely sync up "Womanizer" with the Hall & Oates tune "Maneater"? If anyone can make it work, it's these fun-loving kids.
