T4 At JFK Has Gone To The Birds

December 1, 2008 at 12:38 PM | by | Comments (5)

While waiting for our Virgin America flight yesterday at JFK's Terminal 4, we were excited to hunker down at one of the food court tables with our copy of the NY Post and a sausage McMuffin. (The hot nosh vending machines nearby just weren't doing it for us.)

Except we couldn't really enjoy ourselves. Why? Because flitting over our heads and pecking away near our feet were little sparrows. Yes, sparrows. As in birds. Inside the terminal. And lots of them: We saw at least seven.

Apparently, it looks like the problem is not contained to T4. There are also sparrows flying through the new JetBlue Terminal. More bird pics are after the jump for your viewing pleasure.

What's the deal with the birds at JFK? Let us know in comments below.

But how

did they get so far in there?!

sweet

these birds are so cute and adorable. I would rather eat next to them, than eat next an englishman :). just saying.

cute but they still poop

i agree. these birds are cute. and i wouldn't mind eating near them...if i were outside in a park. it was weird watching them fly over my head and hearing them tweet tweet. i also worried there were like massive amounts of bird poop somewhere. the food court was regularly policed by a cleaning staff. but STILL. birds in a terminal are almost as bad as snakes on a plane.

Terminal 2 and 3...

Also have birds living in the Baggage Claim Areas. Combined with the 1970's carpet and insufficiently sized baggage claims, flying Delta into JFK is like arriving in a third world country.

all of jfk

is overrun with birds. i've seen them in the old jetblue terminal 6, and even once in shiny new terminal 1. in fact once in delta terminal 2 i actually saw some pretty hefty pigeons perched up high ... i was definitely a little wary ...
