Quantum Of Solace

November 14, 2008 at 8:05 AM | by sedona | 0 Comments

Our favorite sexy British spy returns to the big screen today, and we can't wait to see him again. "Quantum of Solace" brings back Daniel Craig as 007 and Judi Dench as "M," picking up where "Casino Royale" left off, right after James lost Vesper. Having captured Mr. White, Bond and "M" discover (of course) that the enemy organization they're dealing with is far more dangerous and complex than they'd originally thought.

Evidence links a traitor in MI6 to a mysterious bank account in Haiti where Bond meets the stunning Camille. She has her own agenda but leads him to villain Dominic Greene, a "ruthless businessman" who is about to make a deal to take control of the water supply in Bolivia. All in a day's work for Bond...

This adventure actually takes place all over, from Austria to Italy to Panama, but we invite you to read on for some great things to check out in one of its key filming locations: Chile.

Where to Stay: Panamericana Antofagasta Hotel, Antofagasta
Located right downtown in this natural mineral rich city, the Panamericana combines a great location with awesome views of the Pacific. It's a city institution, celebrating 50 years in Antofagasta. Many rooms feature seaside terraces (and perks like free WiFi), and for sunning and swimming you can take your pick of the pool or the beach.

Where to Eat: Aquí Está Coco, Santiago
Sometimes it's fun to go to the kitschiest place in town, and this is it. Tricked out in a nautical theme with all sorts of odds and ends, Aquí Está Coco is housed in two levels of a 100-year-old home. Seafood is pretty much what's on the menu, a perfect fit for the crowd and scene.

What to Do: Casa Pablo Neruda, Isla Negra
This is one of the famed poet's homes in Chile, just south of Valparaíso, and probably the most personal and well kept. Visitors can wander through and check out Neruda's book collection, desk and tons of keepsakes and trinkets. Reservations are a must, and plan for about a day of travel there and back.
