National Parks Travel: Canadians May Add Some Adventure

October 7, 2008 at 1:35 PM | 0 Comments

National parks usually speak for themselves with their natural beauty and peaceful settings. But officials in Canada are thinking a little differently, as they plan to add some vacation gimmicks to their parks.

Parks Canada is considering zip-lines, a couple canopy tours and maybe even hang gliding and paragliding. Locals near the parks are all for the plans, as they feel the increased activities will boost attendance without hurting the environment. Of course there's opposition, since technically the parks are supposed to preserve nature as it is.

The federal agency is holding meetings across the country to discuss the impact and potential of these new attractions, so don't plan your hang gliding lesson just yet. Like all things government, even if the new adventures get approved, it'll likely be at least a couple years until things start to, uh, take off.
