"Milk" Reminds Us To Salute The Castro
It's another five days before we know if someone from an under-represented group will take an unprecedented leadership role. So it's fitting--or smart marketing--for Focus Features, with the help of Sean Penn, to remind us that the Castro already did that 30 years ago.
Critics are already mouthing the word “Oscar” about the new film "Milk," about America’s first openly gay elected leader, Harvey Milk, who served on the Castro’s Board of Supervisors. The movie features scenes of the neighborhood during its heyday in the 1970s--before they decided to cancel Halloween.
Makes us wish for a time machine, but guess we'll have to settle for the cheap Virgin America flights heading to San Francisco instead.
