The Best Halloween Theme Parks: Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

In addition to the decorations at all the parks and ubiquitous pumpkins, October brings Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party to Disney World. This after-hours event takes place at the Magic Kingdom on selected nights this month.

Advance tickets are $43, and it's a good chance to get into the park without paying the usual $70 or so for a one-day admission.

Everyone's invited to join Mickey and friends at their party, and you're totally encouraged to dress up--although there are always a few bigger kids that seem to take it a little too far. Still, the park is usually a little less crowded, all the rides are open and you get to trick-or-treat, which is sweeeeet.

Most nights you'll get two chances to experience Mickey's Boo To You Halloween Parade. The parade kicks off with the Headless Horseman riding the parade route. After the intro, you'll watch as some of the other ghoulish residents of the Haunted Mansion get their chance to recreate the famous dining room scene from the attraction right down Main Street USA.

The highlight of the evening is the special fireworks presentation, Happy HalloWishes. The show is set to spooky music from Disney's extensive library of films and ends with fireworks-in-the-round.

Although not as scary as some of the other park offerings, this one is definitely a lot of fun--and you get to leave with a bag of candy.
