Freaky Museum Travel: Mountain Lion Trolling the Getty

October 24, 2008 at 12:38 PM | by BS | 0 Comments

Reason Number 650,394 why LA is the craziest city in the country: Freaking mountain lions just walkin' around.

Employees at the Getty Museum were more than a little scared when they spotted one of the wild cats roaming around the museum's grounds this week:

The lion was seen near the turnaround for the shuttle bus that ferries employees from a parking lot up the hill to the museum about 9:30 one recent night, and shortly before dawn on another day...

The Getty, which is surrounded by acres of untouched hillside, is commonly visited by wildlife, like deer, coyotes, skunks, foxes and owls, and the nearby Getty Villa, which abuts a state park, is along an annual monarch butterfly migration route.

Sometimes, animals are invited guests. This spring, the museum brought in about 60 goats to nibble away the flammable brush around its 110-acre hillside campus.
