The lion was seen near the turnaround for the shuttle bus that ferries employees from a parking lot up the hill to the museum about 9:30 one recent night, and shortly before dawn on another day...
The Getty, which is surrounded by acres of untouched hillside, is commonly visited by wildlife, like deer, coyotes, skunks, foxes and owls, and the nearby Getty Villa, which abuts a state park, is along an annual monarch butterfly migration route.
Sometimes, animals are invited guests. This spring, the museum brought in about 60 goats to nibble away the flammable brush around its 110-acre hillside campus.
