Where to Stay: Peery Hotel
One of the city's best historic hotels right downtown, The Peery was built in 1910 and is Utah's only hotel listed on the National Historic Register. Each of the 73 rooms has perks like goose down pillows and winged back reading chairs, and some have period touches like half-canopy beds and gaming tables, too.
Where to Eat: The Metropolitan
Once an abandoned warehouse, The Metropolitan now claims a chic, upscale vibe with new American cuisine and offerings like blackened Utah trout, red deer loin and lattice cherry pie. Don't miss their 2-for-1 "attitude adjustment" happy hour deals.
What to Do: Family History Library
This library contains what is (likely) the world's largest collection of genealogical records. Admission is free, and you can trace your roots back through generations with the help of friendly orientation guides. Founded by Mormons, the FHL contains backgrounds dating back as far as 1520 with information verified by governments, churches, organizations and individuals.
