Six Flags Fright Fest is celebrated throughout the country, but things seem to be a little heightened at Great Adventure. Your daily admission is good for both the Thrills by Day and the Chills by Night. After enjoying a day taking in some of the country's most terrifying coasters, the frights continue Friday-Sunday nights through November 2.
Things start around 6 pm, when The Awakening parade runs through the park to introduce you and your buddies to the living dead and the resurrection of Dr. Fright.
One of the biggest attractions is the Dead Man's Party, where some catchy songs are accompanied by choreography from Ashley Dawson, runner up from the first season of "So You Think You Can Dance." This always seems to draw a large crowd and is definitely a must-see if you are a little hesitant to visit some of the more intense scare zones.
The only downside to this year's Fright Fest is that some of the attractions are going to set you back a little coin. If the Demented Forest, a fairy tale gone wrong with trolls and goblins, is up your alley just be prepared to lighten your pockets. The same is true for those of you who have always dreamed of pretending to be a mental patient trying to escape, as you pony up extra to enjoy the Escape from the Asylum.
Thankfully most of the attractions are included in your admission, which starts at $39 for online print-at-homes.
Oh, and save you appetite for the Wheel of Fright. Spin the wheel for a chance to win a front-of-the-line pass to some of the park's major attractions--but of course you'll have to choke down a delicious cockroach first.
