But the campaign won't wait for Number 2: After John McCain and Barack Obama returned to vote on the Senate bailout bill (both in favor), they left their right-hand man and woman to prep and sallied forth into two swing states.
After appearing on "Fox and Friends" this morning--where he joked that his poll numbers have dipped because "life isn't fair"--Sen. John McCain is conducting a town hall meeting in Denver, nearly crossing paths with potential First Lady Michelle Obama, who spoke at UC-Boulder yesterday.
No, all those Rocky Mountain outings aren't in your imagination: Deep red in 2004, Colorado is majorly in play this year, and the Democrats could take it for the first time since 1992. But not if the senator from Arizona has anything to do with it: He'll be in Puebla on Friday, and Palin will appear at a fundraiser in Centennial, Colorado on Friday.
Meanwhile, Sen. Barack Obama is speaking in East Lansing, Michigan later today. The Illinoisan told a Grand Rapids crowd this morning that McCain's "yardstick" isn't taking into account the job loss of Bob and Mary Q. Public.
