Airfare Sales: JetBlue and Skybus Ring in '08

January 2, 2008 at 10:50 AM | 0 Comments

We're expecting 2008 to be a year of higher airfares, thanks mostly to higher fuel costs for the carriers. But Skybus and JetBlue are going the other way--at least for now--offering big fare sales to start off the new year.

Skybus, which already offers some $10 fares, is selling lots of seats for $20.08, for travel between January 9 and the end of February. That's a deal for one-way tickets that would normally go for $35-$75. With the right timing, that means you can get from "Boston" (Portsmouth, New Hampshire) to St. Augustine, Florida for just $52 all-in.

JetBlue, of course, has a much wider route network to take advantage of, though sale fares are a bit higher than Skybus'. You've got until January 11 to book flights, and you'll need to travel before February 13 in most cases. We found Boston to Fort Lauderdale flights for $179 all-in. Cold weather lovers can hop a JFK to Salt Lake flight for $299 all-in and get in some skiing or catch Sundance.
